The Purpose of Discomfort
Many of you have been reaching out over the course of these past few days sharing stories of intense emotional experiences in your life and in relationship to those around you. What I find myself sharing frequently is the invitation to be looking at what is surfacing for you through new lenses.
Yes, it is intense and often feels overwhelming, igniting a judgment within that propels us to wish that our circumstances were simply different than they are. In this time of much emotion, offer kindness and compassion to any part of you that finds yourself judging your situation as bad or too hard and see if you can connect with that deeper wisdom within that remembers that whatever is surfacing in your life under the guise of discomfort or challenge is here to support your greatest unfolding, your awakening to more of your soul Self and making room for even more of your divine light.
As Rumi so beautifully expressed, “The wound is the place where the light enters you”. Likewise, that which is causing you pain is asking for even more love- not from another- but love directed inwardly from your own heart to the part of you feeling alone, abandoned, betrayed, rejected, afraid, etc. As you meet these moments with more love and presence than ever before, you heal the old wounds that make your current circumstances feel exponentially painful and you make room for the emergence of your divine light to shine even more brightly. In short, you become an active participant in your own greatest awakening. So reach for compassion inward and out as these times continue to rock us awake. Without exception, everything presenting itself to you right now is here to support your emergence into the greatest and grandest version of you.
